IS IT HARMFUL TO REMOVE TARTAR?

Tartars are structures that are formed by the hardening of the bacterial plaque combining with saliva minerals that accumulates in places where dental cleaning cannot be done well. Tartars do not directly harm the teeth or gums, but they threaten teeth and gums because they cause plaque accumulation. Therefore, they must be cleaned. There is no harm in cleaning the calculus, on the contrary, it is a process that must be done for gingival health.

CAN DENTAL TREATMENT BE PERFORMED DURING PREGNANCY?

The period of pregnancy is divided into 3 trimesters. The second trimester (ie the 4th-6th month) is suitable for dental treatment. Consultation from the obstetrician and gynecologist is absolutely required for emergency interventions that should be done in other periods. During pregnancy, there may be swelling and bleeding in the gums (pregnancy gingivitis) due to hormonal changes. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention to oral hygiene during pregnancy.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ZIRCONIUM TEETH IN TERMS OF AESTHETICS?

The appearance of natural teeth is fully captured with the help of the light transmittance feature. The ability to transmit light completely belongs to healthy teeth. Classic porcelain coatings, whose infrastructure is made of metals, create an opaque appearance on the teeth. This causes the teeth to look artificial and lifeless. The material that prevents this situation is zirconium.

HOW CAN I PREVENT CARIES?

Teeth should be brushed with a fluoride toothpaste. Use dental floss or other interface tools for the interfaces of your teeth. Attention should be paid to a balanced diet and a limit should be placed on junk food. Consult your dentist about “fluorination” and “fissure sealants”, which are applications that make your teeth more resistant to caries. You should visit your dentist regularly for professional dental cleaning and oral examination.

HOW TO PREVENT GUM DISEASE?

The most important task in the prevention of periodontal disease falls on the person himself. In order to maintain the teeth in a healthy condition, it is necessary to remove bacterial dental plaque with daily oral care procedures (tooth brushing and dental floss). It is equally important to visit the dentist regularly. Daily oral care procedures can minimize the formation of calculus, but may not prevent it completely. A dentist’s evaluation of areas that cannot be reached with a toothbrush, dental floss or other cleaning tools is necessary for the removal of existing dental plaque and/or calculus.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF GINGUAL DISEASE?

There are many signs of gum disease;

  • Bleeding gums while brushing teeth
  • Red, swollen and tender gums

HOW CAN I ELIMINATE BAD BREATH? (REMOVE ODOR?)

The bad breath is 90% caused by teeth, gums and mouth. Other causes are digestive, respiratory systems, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, postnasal drip and systemic diseases (diabetes etc.). For bad breath, there is a need for areas where food residues will be trapped after chewing and will undergo fermentation and turn into odor. Decayed or broken teeth, diseased gums that have formed pockets around the teeth, are the primary causes of bad breath. Irregular edge compatible fillings that will cause inflammation in the gingiva, unhygienic fixed or removable dentures with damaged gingival relationship are also factors that will cause bad breath. In addition to all these, it is necessary not to ignore the hygiene habits of the patients. Bad breath can only disappear after a treatment plan done by the  doctor, the dentist or E.N.T. (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist.

If you do not have a disease that will cause bad breath, bad breath will disappear by brushing your teeth and using dental floss, especially in the morning. If your bad breath persists despite maintaining oral hygiene and care, we recommend that you go to your dentist.

WHAT TO DO AFTER TOOTH EXTRACTION, IS A TOOTH DEFICIENCY IMPORTANT?

After tooth extraction, a fixed bridge denture or an implant-supported denture that will take on the task of the extracted tooth must be planned. A missing tooth causes a very heavy biological bill in the long term, even if it is not in the initial years. The problem of closing the jaws with each other due to this lack of teeth, interface caries due to hygiene difficulties and advanced gingival and bone losses are just a few of the problems that the patient will experience.

I HAVE A FEAR OF THE DENTIST AND DENTAL TREATMENT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Dentist Fear

  1. You should choose a sincere, experienced and caring dentist with whom you feel comfortable and safe.

  3. Before starting treatment, ask your dentist to explain the stages of treatment.
  4. If you want to interrupt the procedure for any reason during treatment, you can determine this by a sign between you and your dentist (for example, raising your hand) before the treatment begins.
  5. It can be started with a simple treatment, you do not have to have all the treatments done at once. In fact, almost all of our patients overcome their fears after the first treatment.
  6. Before starting treatment, visiting the clinic and talking with the dentist and staff can relax you.
  7. Prefer to make your appointments in the morning. Morning hours are the time when the stress and intensity of the day is the least, it will make you think positively and relax.
  8. Go to the dentist every 6 months. Thus, you can both avoid large transactions and get used to the environment more easily. In the environment you are accustomed to, your fears do not exist or they decrease a lot.
  9. A significant number of current fears relate to legacy technologies and practices. Currently, dental technologies and treatment methods are highly developed. It has features that will provide your comfort and convenience.
  10. An important part of the fear of the dentist is related to the needle. In modern clinics, methods that greatly reduce the pain of dental needles are used.

WHY SHOULD CHILDREN’S MILK TEETH BE TREATED?Child dental examination

1) In the period when the child is most active in terms of growth and development, milk teeth play a big role in terms of nutrition.

2) In this period when children learn to speak, it is important for them to pronounce words correctly.

3) Another task of the milk teeth is to keep the permanent teeth in place and to ensure that they erupt in their right places.

IS IT BETTER TO CARRY OUT ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT AT EARLY AGE?

In the mixed dentition period, there may be skeletal stenosis of the jaw where the permanent teeth cannot fit properly, while the primary teeth and permanent teeth are displaced. With orthodontic treatment performed at an early age, jaw expansion can be achieved and jaw surgery that will be needed in advanced ages can be prevented. You will also avoid high costs. For a smooth, aesthetic jaw and tooth structure, we recommend that you seek the opinion of a specialist before the age of 12.
